Pilot Project Get Awarded

Our pilot project proposal entitled, "A Virtual Human System for Health Risk Assessments in a Representative Whole-lung Configuration Associated with Welding Fume Exposure" has been funded by NIOSH Southwest Center for Occupational & Environmental Heatlh (SWCOEH). The objective is to develop a novel noninvasive health risk assessment tool by integrating the experimentally validated Computational Fluid-Particle Dynamics model and a virtual human system covering the entire conducting and respiratory zones, to simulate the transport and deposition of inhaled toxicants in metal fumes with multiple breathing patterns and fabrication activities.
